The Mountain Ride

Hey all!! Elder Rhodes here, still alive and well. The Brazil Santos Mission has been very cool and a great learning experience. At times, I miss how so darn comfortable my other mission was lol but I know that this is exactly where I need to be at this time.

With that being said, I've already been here for 5 weeks, isn't that crazy!! And get a load of this, in a few days I will be half way done with my mission, already a year!? Man, where has the time gone. I don't know too much haha but I do know one thing for sure. When you love what you are doing, the person you are becoming, the people, and the Savior you are serving, time certainly flies.

Caraguataba is good. We have started an English Class here and the turnouts have been so awesome. We have found lots of teaching opportunities about the gospel by doing this.

We were also able to have zone conference this last week which is where a lot of the missionaries gather together for an awesome day of trainings and food and what not, it's always a really good time. Because we are so far away from the center of the mission (Santos) where the conference is held we all hopped on this big van bus thing and drove up the day before. The drive is so dope (for me at least lol) it's a whole bunch of switchbacks around the mountains for a couple of hours. Right in the middle of the trip I look back and all of the missionaries start looking white and start to not look so good. Before I know it the Elder right next to starts puking so hard...and then another starts puking...and before I know it the bus driver pulled over absolutely cracking up at all of these missionaries puking so bad lol. If anyone has seen the Office I swear it was EXACTLY like the scene whenever one starts and then all the others follow. Okay, disclaimer I honestly may have laughed a bit too along with the bus driver but hey it was nothing like I've seen before lol so were gonna call it justified, right? Haha. So yes, that's enough about puking lol.

Anyways, the language is coming along. I am almost done with the Book of Mórmon in Português! I made a goal to read it all in my first transfer here and we are almost there!!

Brazil is good and the people here are so wonderful. Oh also, I eat rice and beans every day haha, kinda sweet. Carbs and Protein baby.

Here are some pics for ya'll: -I got to visit São Paulo and the CTM to do visa stuff, was so cool! -Zone Conference Pics -Churrasco (Brazilian incredible BBQ) -Friends

Love you all! avery.rhodes@missionary.org Elder Rhodes
